30 Minute Timer
The 30-minute timer is ready — press Start. Tap () to pick a sound and check your volume. Edit adds or removes time before you start. Add runs a second timer. Pop out floats the timer above your other apps.
The alarm sounds only while this page stays open. Keep the tab visible for anything important. Why
A 30-minute timer is handy for a workout, a study block, or keeping dinner on schedule. That's 1,800 seconds. Waiting for a clock time instead of a length of time? Set an alarm clock.
How it works
Once it's running, the countdown continues in most modern browsers if you switch tabs — the tab title shows the time remaining — then sounds your chosen alarm when it reaches zero, provided the page stays active and your browser permits audio (see browser timing limitations). Space starts and pauses, and R resets.
The arrows button fills the screen with the countdown, for a phone propped on the counter or a timer at the back of a room. While it's full screen the page asks your browser to keep the screen awake; most phones allow this, and the line along the bottom tells you whether yours did. The longest timer you can set is 24 hours — for anything beyond that, count down to a date with a countdown.
Need a different length? Try the 29-minute timer or 35-minute timer, or set any hours, minutes and seconds above. Counting down to a date instead? Make a countdown; to time how long something takes, use the stopwatch.
30 Minute Timer — questions
Is the 30-minute timer free?
Yes — it's completely free, with no sign-up, no account and nothing to install. Open the page and press Start.
Will the alarm go off if I switch tabs?
It keeps counting down in most modern browsers if you switch to another tab or app, and the browser tab title shows the time remaining. Browser power-saving restrictions can delay updates or prevent the alarm from sounding, so keep the tab open and make sure your device isn't muted for anything important.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, on any phone, tablet or computer with a web browser — nothing to download. Keep the sound turned on so you hear the alarm.
How long is 30 minutes exactly?
That's 1,800 seconds. Start it and the page counts down in real time, so you never have to work it out.
