5 Minute Timer
Press start and this timer counts down 5 minutes, then sounds an alarm.
A 5-minute timer is handy for a quick break, steeping French-press coffee, or a short meditation. That's 300 seconds.
How it works
This page is preset to 5 minutes — just press Start and it counts down to zero. It continues in most modern browsers if you switch tabs (the tab title shows the time left), then attempts to sound an alarm, provided the page remains active and your browser permits audio (see browser timing limitations). Pause and resume anytime, or Reset to start over. Space starts and pauses.
Need a different length? Try the 4-minute-30-second timer or 5-minute-30-second timer, or set any hours, minutes and seconds above. Counting down to a date instead? Make a countdown; to time how long something takes, use the stopwatch.
5 Minute Timer — questions
Is the 5-minute timer free?
Yes — it's completely free, with no sign-up, no account and nothing to install. Open the page and press Start.
Will the alarm go off if I switch tabs?
It keeps counting down in most modern browsers if you switch to another tab or app, and the browser tab title shows the time remaining. Browser power-saving restrictions can delay updates or prevent the alarm from sounding, so keep the tab open and make sure your device isn't muted for anything important.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, on any phone, tablet or computer with a web browser — nothing to download. Keep the sound turned on so you hear the alarm.
