Overlooked by big college programs, Curry changed how basketball is played, becoming the NBA's all-time three-point leader, a four-time champion with Golden State, and the league's first unanimous MVP.

Too small for everyone but Davidson

At 6 feet and 160 pounds, Curry got no offers from major programs; even Virginia Tech, where his dad Dell starred, suggested he walk on. So he went to tiny Davidson College, about 1,700 students, and in March 2008 introduced himself to the world: 40 points to stun Gonzaga, then upsets of Georgetown and Wisconsin, averaging 32 points as the Wildcats reached the Elite Eight before falling 59-57 to eventual champion Kansas.

The night the record fell at the Garden

On December 14, 2021, at Madison Square Garden, Curry passed Ray Allen's 2,973 career three-pointers to become the NBA's all-time leader, needing 511 fewer games (789 to Allen's 1,300). He had already rewritten the season book with 402 threes in 2015-16, the year he became the league's first unanimous MVP. In March 2025 he became the first player ever to reach 4,000 career threes, to go with four championships.

Twenty-five million meals in Oakland

In 2019, Stephen and Ayesha Curry founded Eat. Learn. Play. to serve the Oakland kids who grew up cheering for him. The foundation has provided more than 25 million meals to Oakland children and families, remodeled 23 schoolyards, redesigned 14 cafeterias, and modernized school libraries across the Oakland Unified School District. In 2023, the Currys committed to raising $50 million more for Oakland's public school students.
