From 'Deals for Days' to a Prime Day heavyweight

Walmart fired its first shot in June 2021 with a four-day sale called 'Deals for Days,' deliberately starting a full day before Amazon Prime Day — and unlike Prime Day, it required no membership at all. The counter-punch worked well enough to become an annual fixture, rebranded simply 'Walmart Deals.' The 2025 edition marked a milestone: for the first time the sale ran in Walmart's thousands of stores as well as online, stretching six days from July 8 to 13 — longer than Prime Day itself.

Shopping it like a pro

Everything runs through Walmart.com/deals and the Walmart app, plus store aisles now that the event covers both. Walmart+ members get a head start — in 2025 early access opened at 7 p.m. ET the evening before the public start — so a membership or trial timed to the sale can pay for itself on one big-ticket item. Deals rotate through the event, and back-to-school items on supplies and kids' clothing typically join the electronics, home and toy markdowns, making the sale a smart moment to shop the school list early.
