The closet organizer who built an empire

Before the cameras, Kardashian organized celebrity closets and resold designer finds on eBay, styling for friends like Paris Hilton. When Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered in 2007, she turned reality fame into a business laboratory -- a hit mobile game, beauty lines, and finally SKIMS, the shapewear company she co-founded in 2019 with Jens and Emma Grede after years of dyeing her own undergarments to match her skin tone. The show ran 20 seasons over 14 years; the businesses outgrew it.

A five-billion-dollar idea

SKIMS became one of the fastest-growing apparel brands in the world. In November 2025 a $225 million funding round led by Goldman Sachs valued the six-year-old company at $5 billion, and Forbes pegged Kardashian's net worth at $1.9 billion, driven largely by her 35 percent stake. The Alice Johnson phone call

In 2018 Kardashian saw a video about Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother serving life without parole for a nonviolent drug offense, hired lawyers, and personally lobbied the White House until Johnson's sentence was commuted. She went on to back the 90 Days of Freedom campaign with attorneys fighting similar sentences, then put in the hours herself: a six-year, 5,000-plus-hour California law apprenticeship, passing the 'baby bar' in 2021 and completing the program in May 2025.
