The bakery boy who named the band

On Saturdays he served Viennese fancies at the W. Mandeville bakery in Holmes Chapel; in April 2010, aged 16, he sang Stevie Wonder's 'Isn't She Lovely' for Simon Cowell on The X Factor after Cowell nixed his first song choice. Cut at bootcamp, he was called back with four other eliminated boys to form a group -- and it was Styles who suggested its name: One Direction. Across Love On Tour's 173 shows, Styles directed a slice of ticket and merchandise revenue to local nonprofits in the cities he played, totalling more than $6.5 million for causes from reproductive health to gun safety. He also partnered with HeadCount to register over 54,000 voters at his concerts -- and his earlier world tour had already raised $1.2 million for 62 charities.
