A song for dance class that got away

In 2015, Billie's dance teacher asked for a song he could choreograph, so she and her big brother Finneas recorded Ocean Eyes — a track he had written — in his small bedroom studio at their Highland Park, Los Angeles home. They uploaded it to SoundCloud overnight just so he could download it; strangers found it instead, and it racked up hundreds of thousands of plays within weeks. She was 13. Four years later that same bedroom produced a No. 1 debut album.

The night she swept the Grammys

At the 2020 Grammys, an 18-year-old Eilish became the first artist since Christopher Cross in 1981 — and the youngest ever — to sweep Album, Record and Song of the Year plus Best New Artist in a single night. She and Finneas then won Academy Awards for No Time to Die and Barbie's What Was I Made For?, making her, at 22, the youngest two-time Oscar winner in history and breaking a record that had stood since 1938.

Plant-based meals and a cooler planet

Eilish's giving runs through Support + Feed, the food-equity nonprofit her mother Maggie Baird founded in 2020, which has delivered more than 2.2 million plant-based meals and pantry items across dozens of cities. Her Overheated climate summits travel with her tours, which favor refillable water stations and plant-based catering. In October 2025 she announced she was donating $11.5 million from her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to food equity, climate justice and cutting carbon pollution.
