The impossible circuit

Monaco's 2-mile street circuit has barely changed since 1929: through a tunnel, past the casino, around a hairpin taken at little more than 30 mph. Nelson Piquet compared driving it to 'riding a bicycle around your living room' — modern F1 cars were never meant to fit, which is the whole appeal.

One leg of the Triple Crown

Motorsport's unofficial Triple Crown is Monaco, the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only one driver has ever completed it — Graham Hill — which tells you how different the three disciplines are.
